About
Nestled in the sagebrush rangelands to the west of Silver Lake's dry lake bed, Duncan Reservoir Campground offers a peaceful, off-the-beaten-path camping experience managed by the Bureau of Land Management. The campground consists of four individual campsites located on the west side of Duncan Reservoir and one group campsite situated on the north end below the dam. All sites are available on a first-come, first-served basis with no fees.
Duncan Reservoir is stocked with rainbow trout, making it a popular destination for anglers. The reservoir also provides opportunities for canoeing and during winter months, ice fishing is possible when the water freezes over. Additional facilities include a boat ramp, vault toilet, covered picnic area, and picnic tables and fire grates at each campsite.
The campground is accessed via County Road 4-14, a 5-mile gravel road that can be rough at times but offers scenic glimpses of Silver Lake, Table Rock, Picture Rock Pass, and occasional herds of pronghorn antelope grazing the open range. Campers should be prepared to be self-sufficient as there is no drinking water, food, or gas available at the reservoir. The nearest services can be found in Silver Lake, Fort Rock, and Summer Lake, Oregon.
