About
Twin Lakes Campground sits at the intersection of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area and Eagle Cap Wilderness, offering access to alpine lakes and backcountry trails. The small 5-site campground is minimally developed but provides vault toilets, picnic tables, and fire rings at each site. No potable water is available, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground is accessed via Forest Road 66, which connects to the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway (Forest Road 39). This access route is closed by snow from late October through late May or early June and is designated as an over-the-snow vehicle route during winter months. The primary camping season runs mid-June through September. Fishing on Twin Lakes via boardwalks is a main attraction, along with day hiking and backpacking. Trail 1874 departs directly from the campground, passing through remnants of an old burn area into the surrounding wilderness.
