About

Coverdale Campground is situated along the Wild and Scenic Imnaha River in the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area. This small rustic campground features 7 sites that accommodate both tents and trailers in an open ponderosa pine and fir setting near the river. The campground provides access to excellent fishing opportunities on the Imnaha River, as well as day hiking, picnicking, photography, and riverside relaxation. Located deep within the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area, the campground is accessed via Forest Road 3960 off the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway (Forest Road 39). The remote location offers a peaceful setting with light usage. Sites include vault toilets and fire pits, but campers must bring their own water as none is available on-site. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis at $10 per night, with a 50% discount available for Interagency Senior and Access Pass holders. The seasonal closure of Forest Road 39 due to snow limits access to the campground, typically restricting use to late spring through mid-fall. The surrounding Hells Canyon National Recreation Area provides additional recreational opportunities including access to wilderness trails and the dramatic canyon landscapes of the deepest river gorge in North America.
