About
Coverdale Campground sits along the banks of the Wild and Scenic Imnaha River within the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area in northeastern Oregon. This small, rustic campground offers 7 sites in an open ponderosa pine and fir forest setting, accommodating both tents and trailers. Each site features a fire ring, picnic table, and parking space. The campground provides a quiet base for exploring the Hells Canyon region. Fishing in the Imnaha River is a primary draw, along with day hiking, wildlife viewing, picnicking, and photography. The remote location along Forest Road 3960 offers solitude and access to one of Oregon's most scenic river corridors. Facilities are minimal: vault toilets are available but there is no potable water on site. Campers should bring their own drinking water or obtain it seasonally from nearby Indian Crossing or Ollokot Campgrounds. Quiet hours are 10pm to 6am.
Directions
From Enterprise, travel south on OR-82 to Joseph (6.5 miles). In Joseph, turn left on OR-350 for 8 miles. Turn right onto Wallowa Loop Road (Hells Canyon Scenic Byway/Forest Road 39) and travel 30 miles. Before the Imnaha River bridge, turn right on Forest Road 3960 and continue 4 miles along the Imnaha River; the campground entrance is on the left.
