About

Lick Creek Campground offers a quiet, rustic camping experience in the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area of northeastern Oregon. Located along Lick Creek where it crosses the Hells Canyon Scenic Byway, this small campground provides convenient access to the surrounding wilderness and scenic driving opportunities. The forested setting and streamside location make it ideal for those seeking a peaceful retreat. The campground features 9 standard nonelectric campsites, each with a fire ring, picnic table, and parking space. Vault toilets are available, but there is no potable water on-site, so campers must bring an adequate supply. The campground operates on a first-come, first-served basis with reservations also available through Recreation.gov. Sites cost $10 per night, with Interagency Senior/Access Pass holders receiving a 50% discount. Quiet hours are observed from 10pm to 6am. Access to the campground is via Forest Road 39 (Hells Canyon Scenic Byway), which is typically closed by snow from late October through late May or early June. The primary camping season runs June through September when the campground is maintained. The area offers excellent opportunities for day hikes, stream fishing, and wildlife viewing in the dramatic canyon landscape.
