About

Twelve Mile Flat Campground is located beneath the shadow of Mt. Baldy near the top of the Wasatch Plateau in an open, wildflower-filled meadow surrounded by spruce and pines at an elevation of 10,120 feet. The campground contains two group sites that can accommodate up to 50 people and eight vehicles each, along with additional single-family sites available for reservation. Mature spruce and pine trees dot the open landscape, providing partial shade throughout the campground. ATV trails are abundant in the area, providing exciting riding for all skill levels. Skyline Drive passes just outside the campground and runs along the top of the Wasatch Plateau for over 60 miles, rewarding visitors with beautiful mountain scenery, glacial cirques, spruce-fir forests, aspen forests, and numerous lakes and reservoirs. A short but steep drive over the ridge leads to Ferron Reservoir, approximately 2 miles away, for canoeing and rainbow and cutthroat trout fishing. This is a pack-in, pack-out facility with no garbage service or potable water on-site. Water can be obtained at Ferron Reservoir roughly 2 miles away. Vault toilets are provided, and a campground host is typically located on-site during the operating season. Roads and parking spurs are gravel. Wildlife and summer wildflowers are plentiful, and autumn leaves put on a spectacular show in the surrounding area. In winter, the area becomes a playground for snowmobile enthusiasts.

Directions

From Mayfield, head east on Canyon Road (turns into Forest Road 022) for approximately 12 miles. From Ferron, travel west on Forest Road 022 for about 28 miles.
