About

Tuttle Creek State Park is a premier outdoor destination in northeast Kansas, located near Manhattan and encompassing 1,200 acres along the shores of Tuttle Creek Reservoir, the state's second largest impoundment with 12,500 acres of water and approximately 100 miles of rugged, wooded shoreline. The park is divided into five distinct areas: River Pond, Rocky Ford, Cedar Ridge, Fancy Creek, and Randolph, each offering unique camping experiences and recreational opportunities. The park provides diverse camping options with a total of 167 water and electric sites, 8 full hookup sites with electric, water, and sewer, and approximately 600 primitive sites across all areas. Modern amenities include flush toilets, shower facilities, dump stations, and a camp store operated by the Friends of Tuttle Creek State Park. River Pond and Rocky Ford areas offer the most developed camping with the majority of utility hookups, while Cedar Ridge, Fancy Creek, and the Randolph equestrian area cater to those seeking a more rustic experience. The park also features 11 modern log-sided cabins, seven in River Pond and four in Cedar Ridge, each equipped with full kitchens, bathrooms, heating and air conditioning. Recreational opportunities abound throughout the park. Anglers can pursue channel catfish, flathead catfish, bass, saugeye, white bass, and crappie in the main lake and river areas, with trout stocked in Willow Lake during fall and winter. The River Pond area features a swimming beach and archery range open during daylight hours. Trail enthusiasts can explore multiple routes including the challenging 6-mile Fancy Creek Mountain Bike Trail featuring steep terrain and rock outcrops, the 13-mile Randolph Equestrian Trail showcasing Flint Hills scenery, and several shorter nature trails. The park also hosts an 18-hole disc golf course and the state-of-the-art Fancy Creek Shooting Range, open the first and third weekends of each month. Adjacent to the park, a 12,000-acre wildlife area provides extensive hunting and wildlife observation opportunities.
