Milford State Park

Open — Open year-round with all campsites available first-come, first-served November 1 through March 31. Water and electric service remain on at campsites during winter months. The Woodland Hills shower house and restroom facility stay open throughout winter. Some seasonal closures include three cabins, fish cleaning stations, and several restroom facilities closed for winter.

Located northwest of Junction City on Kansas Highway 57, Milford State Park encompasses 1,084 acres on the southeast shore of Milford Reservoir, the largest lake in Kansas. The park serves as a multipurpose recreation area providing services to campers, boaters, anglers, hunters, water enthusiasts, wildlife viewers, and trail users. The park features eight distinct campground areas with 254 total campsites: 60 sites with water, sewer, and electric hookups; 91 sites with water and electric; and 103 primitive sites. Ten modern cabins are available for rent, with seven open year-round and three closing for winter. Amenities include over 12 miles of trails for hiking, biking, and horseback riding, equestrian facilities, a splash park, playground facilities, day-use shelters, group camping areas, three boat ramps with courtesy docks, two fish cleaning stations, two dump stations, an ADA fishing dock with kayak launch, and a full-service marina. Milford Lake is renowned as a premier fishing destination for walleye, crappie, largemouth bass, smallmouth bass, white bass, and catfish. The nearby 19,000-acre wildlife area and 1,100-acre Steve Lloyd refuge support diverse wildlife viewing opportunities. The lake attracts large numbers of bald eagles during winter months. Milford Nature Center and Milford Fish Hatchery below the dam offer interpretive exhibits. Hunters can pursue quail, pheasant, prairie chicken, waterfowl, rabbit, turkey, deer, and squirrel on public land around the reservoir.
