North Overlook Park
Closed — Currently closed for the winter season. The park operates as a day-use facility with reservable shelters.
About
North Overlook Park is one of several day-use recreation areas at Milford Lake, Kansas's largest man-made reservoir with 15,700 acres of surface area and 163 miles of shoreline. The park features two reservable group shelters equipped with picnic tables and grills, with Shelter 2 also offering adjacent sand volleyball court and horseshoe pits. A playground, baseball field, and vault toilets are located between the shelters. The park provides excellent fishing access along the shoreline and serves as a gateway to Milford Lake's diverse recreational opportunities including boating, swimming, hunting, hiking, and wildlife viewing. The lake is nestled on the edge of the Kansas Flint Hills and is fed by the Republican River, creating habitat for diverse wildlife in Kansas's third largest wetland. Nearby attractions include the Milford Nature Center and Fish Hatchery below the dam, featuring live animal exhibits and Kansas ecosystem education. A golf course is adjacent to the nature center, and Junction City is approximately five miles away. This is a day-use facility only and does not offer overnight camping.
Directions
Take I-70 to exit 295, then drive 4.5 miles north to Highway 57, then east approximately 3.2 miles to park entrance.
