About
Tushar Lakeside Campground is nestled in an alcove of aspen and fir trees near Tushar Reservoir at 8,560 feet elevation in the Tushar Mountain Range. Managed by Beaver County rather than the Forest Service directly, this campground is popular with large youth groups and families seeking relief from summer heat. The 16 multi-family units share two flush restroom facilities, potable water from a hand pump, and a large covered pavilion near the water. Recreation opportunities center on Tushar Reservoir, where kayak and canoe rentals are available along with swimming. Forest Trail #3626 departs from the campground and climbs through the mountains to Birch Creek Reservoir for a scenic day hike. Fishing, sand volleyball, and wildlife viewing round out the activities. Note that while street-legal ATVs/UTVs may access the campground, riders must trailer to the Piute ATV Trail trailhead as there is no direct trail access. This is a pack-in/pack-out facility with no trash service. Bears frequent the area, so proper food storage and garbage management are essential. Reservations are required during summer season and must be made at least 48 hours in advance through Beaver County's reservation system.
Directions
From Beaver, travel 10 miles east on UT-153, then turn right onto Kents Lake Road (FR137) and continue approximately 4 miles to the campground entrance.
