About

Ponderosa Picnic Area is a day-use facility in Fishlake National Forest, situated along the Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway approximately 9 miles east of Beaver, Utah. The site sits at 7,000 feet elevation beside the Beaver River, surrounded by towering ponderosa pines, cottonwoods, aspens, and maples that provide partial shade over the grassy, gently sloping grounds. The area is designed for large group gatherings such as family reunions and church outings. Two reservable sites accommodate up to 200 people total, with the East site holding 120 and the West site holding 80. Facilities include multiple picnic tables, grills, campfire circles, electric lights, an amphitheater with bench seating, and a concrete activity pad for volleyball, badminton, or pickleball. Horseshoe pits are available but visitors must bring their own equipment. The Beaver River adjacent to the picnic area offers rainbow and brook trout fishing. The Beaver Canyon Scenic Byway provides 17 miles of scenic driving through the Tushar Mountains, with numerous lakes and streams throughout the area for fishing, boating, and canoeing.
