About

Tollbridge Campground sits at the confluence of Desolation Creek and the North Fork John Day River, providing a peaceful riverside camping experience in the Umatilla National Forest. This small, lightly-used campground offers just 5 sites, making it an ideal spot for those seeking solitude away from more developed areas. An interpretive sign on-site explains the local geology. The campground is primitive in nature with no potable water, hookups, or garbage service. Campers must bring their own water and pack out all trash. Facilities include picnic tables at each site and one accessible vault toilet. The riverside location makes it popular for fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating, with photography opportunities along this scenic stretch of the North Fork John Day River. Access is via Forest Service Roads 55 and 10 off Highway 395, about 16 miles south of Ukiah. The short drive on gravel roads to reach the campground keeps traffic light. Winter access is by snowmobile only once roads become impassable due to snow.

Directions

From Ukiah, OR, travel west 1 mile to the Highway 395 junction. Turn left (south) on Highway 395 and drive about 15 miles, then turn left (east) onto Forest Service Road 55. Drive just under 1 mile, then turn right (south) onto Forest Service Road 10. Travel just across the bridge (about 300 feet) to Tollbridge Campground on the right.
