About

Tin Can Flat Campground is a rustic 11-site campground nestled along the St. Joe Wild and Scenic River in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. Located 10 miles east of Avery on St. Joe River Road (Forest Highway 50), this first-come, first-served campground provides a quiet retreat for campers seeking river access and natural scenery. The campground features vault toilets and potable water available from a hand pump, typically operational from June through October. Each site includes a picnic table. Campers should note there is no trash service; the pack-it-in, pack-it-out refuse policy is enforced. The St. Joe River offers excellent fishing opportunities and floating until mid-July when water levels drop. Other activities include day hiking, scenic viewing, wildlife observation, and winter sledding. Cell phone service is not available at the campground.
