Packsaddle Campground sits alongside the crystal-clear waters of the St. Joe Wild and Scenic River, approximately 4.5 miles east of Avery, Idaho. This intimate campground features just two campsites, making it ideal for those seeking a quiet riverside retreat in the Idaho Panhandle National Forests. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets and potable drinking water from a hand pump, typically available from June through September or October. The location offers excellent access to the St. Joe River's renowned catch-and-release cutthroat trout fishing and non-motorized boating opportunities. The campground also serves as the trailhead for Packsaddle Trail #26, providing access to backcountry hiking. Each campsite includes a picnic table and accommodates up to 2 vehicles, with a third vehicle allowed for an additional fee. The scenic riverside setting and proximity to the Wild and Scenic River corridor make this a popular spot for anglers and river enthusiasts exploring the St. Joe River region.
