About

Telichpah Campground is a small, primitive campground nestled along the North Fork St. Joe River in the St. Joe River Region of Idaho Panhandle National Forests. With only 5 campsites, this quiet campground offers a more secluded camping experience for those seeking solitude in the forest. The campground is situated about 7 miles from Avery, Idaho, accessed via North Fork St. Joe Road and old Moon Pass Road. The campground provides basic amenities including vault toilets, fire pits, and picnic tables at each site, but campers must bring their own water as no potable water is available. A pack-in, pack-out refuse policy is enforced. The North Fork St. Joe River provides excellent fishing opportunities, and nearby streams offer additional angling options. The campground also serves as a trailhead for the Nelson Peak National Recreation Trail System, providing access to backcountry hiking and scenic views. Trailers are not recommended due to the access road and campground layout. The campground operates seasonally, typically from late spring through early fall, and is available on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations.
