About
Three Creeks Meadow Horse Camp is one of four facilities in the Three Creeks Lake area and serves as the designated horse camp for equestrians exploring this beautiful alpine region of the Deschutes National Forest. Located at 6,550 feet elevation on the edge of a large meadow, the campground provides stunning views of the surrounding old growth forest and nearby Three Creeks Lake, which sits in a glacial cirque below Tam McArthur Rim. The campground features corrals with sturdy steel rails to accommodate horses and serves as a key northeast gateway into the Three Sisters Wilderness. Campers can access the Tam McArthur Trail from neighboring Driftwood Campground, a short and reasonably easy hike offering spectacular views of the Three Sisters volcanic peaks. The area also provides access to fishing at Three Creeks Lake, where non-motorized boating is allowed. This is a sensitive environmental area, and camping in the meadow is strictly prohibited to protect the fragile ecosystem. The campground requires weed-free feed for horses as part of forest-wide invasive species prevention efforts. With its proximity to Sisters, Oregon, and the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, the camp offers a perfect base for extended wilderness exploration on horseback.
