About

Driftwood Campground is the first of four camping facilities around Three Creeks Lake, positioned at an elevation of 6,550 feet in Oregon's Deschutes National Forest. The campground provides direct lakeside access to a scenic alpine lake surrounded by old-growth forest, set within a glacial cirque beneath the dramatic Tam McArthur Rim. The 28-acre lake offers excellent fishing from shore, by wading, or from non-motorized boats launched from a primitive boat ramp on the east shore. The 18 tent-only sites each include a picnic table and fire ring with grill, served by vault toilets. Potable water is not available, so campers must bring their own supply. The limited parking spur sizes make this campground unsuitable for RVs or trailers. Driftwood sits at the trailhead for the Tam McArthur Trail, a moderately easy hike offering spectacular views of the Three Sisters: Faith (North), Hope (Middle), and Charity (South), Oregon's third-, fourth-, and fifth-highest peaks. The campground typically operates from mid-June through late September, with reservations available through Recreation.gov. The nearby town of Sisters provides additional amenities, while the surrounding area offers access to the Sisters Wilderness, Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway, and numerous other recreational opportunities.
