About

Driftwood Campground occupies a premier location on the northwest shore of Three Creeks Lake at 6,550 feet elevation in the Deschutes National Forest. This alpine gem sits in a glacial cirque below Tam McArthur Rim, surrounded by old-growth forest with stunning views of the Three Sisters volcanic peaks. The 28-acre lake varies from gentle slopes to rocky cliffs, with a maximum depth of 28 feet, and offers excellent shore and wade fishing, though boat fishing is most popular. Only non-motorized watercraft are permitted, and a primitive boat ramp is available on the east shore. All 18 widely-spaced campsites are first-come, first-served and positioned along the lakeside, providing wonderful water views. The campground serves as the trailhead for the Tam McArthur Trail, a short and reasonably easy hike offering spectacular views of Faith, Hope, and Charity (North, Middle, and South Sister). Located about 16 miles south of Sisters via Forest Road 16, the campground is not recommended for RVs due to limited parking spur sizes. Campers must bring their own water supply as none is available on-site. The location provides access to the nearby Sisters Wilderness and connects to the greater Deschutes National Forest trail system. Three Creeks Lake's outlet stream flows northward and joins two other streams to form Three Creek. The campground's remote alpine setting and lakeside location make it one of the most coveted camping destinations in the area.

Directions
