About

Sisters Cow Camp Horse Camp is a small, primitive equestrian facility located in the Deschutes National Forest near Sisters, Oregon. Maintained in partnership with the Central Oregon Chapter of Oregon Equestrian Trails, this five-site campground is designed specifically to accommodate campers traveling with horses, featuring corrals at each site for safely containing animals overnight. The campground serves as a staging area for early season access to the Metolius Windigo Trail. Due to its lower elevation compared to other area campgrounds, Sisters Cow Camp typically opens in April when higher-elevation sites remain snow-covered. The facility is free to use and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. Amenities are basic: vault toilets are provided but there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. Maximum site spur length is 40 feet. The Forest Service respectfully requests that campers without horses use one of the many nearby campgrounds, as these specialized equestrian facilities are limited in number.
