About
Devils Lake Campground is a primitive hike-in campground offering 10 tent-only sites on the shores of Devils Lake, a striking 23-acre turquoise lake formed by a lava flow. Located about 30 miles southwest of Bend along the Cascade Lakes Highway, the shallow lake has an average depth of just over three feet with a maximum depth of 10 feet. The campground serves as a primary gateway to the Three Sisters Wilderness and is one of the most popular starting points for hiking South Sister. Small non-motorized boats and rafts can be launched near the campground, and the lake is stocked with catchable rainbow trout along with a natural population of brook trout. The easy shoreline access makes it an excellent fishing spot for families. This is a walk-in only campground with parking at the South Sisters/Devils Lake Trailhead. Facilities are limited to vault toilets; there is no potable water, so campers must bring their own. A recreation pass ($5/day or Northwest Forest Pass) is required for parking. A Central Cascades Wilderness Permit is required for both day and overnight use from June 15 through October 15.
