About
Devils Lake Campground is a primitive walk-in tent camping area located 30 miles southwest of Bend along the Cascade Lakes Scenic Byway. The campground features 10 designated tent-only sites nestled near the shoreline of Devils Lake, a stunning 23-acre shallow lake known for its exquisite turquoise waters. The lake was formed by an ancient lava flow visible as jumbled volcanic rock at the east end. Parking is located at the South Sisters/Devils Lake Trailhead, requiring a short walk to reach campsites. The campground serves as one of the most popular gateways to the Three Sisters Wilderness, with the trailhead providing direct access to hike South Sister and explore alpine terrain. Devils Lake itself offers excellent shore fishing opportunities for families, with stocked catchable rainbow trout and a naturally reproducing brook trout population. The shallow waters (averaging just over 3 feet deep) make it accessible for anglers of all ages. Motorized boats are prohibited; small boats, rafts, and non-motorized watercraft can be launched near the campground. This is a basic, first-come, first-served campground with vault toilets and no potable water. Campers must bring all necessary water and supplies. The remote location and lack of amenities make it ideal for those seeking a quiet, wilderness-adjacent camping experience. A Northwest Forest Pass or other accepted recreation pass is required for parking and camping.
Directions
From Bend, travel approximately 29 miles west on Cascade Lakes Highway (Highway 46). Turn south (left) at the sign for Devils Lake Trailhead. Parking is at the South Sisters/Devils Lake Trailhead; campsites require a short walk-in.
