Road Closure and Fishing Pier Impact

The Engineer Wharf, one of two fishing piers at Fort Monroe is temporarily closed. The Finger Pier remains open. Also closed is the section of Fenwick Road between Ingalls and the East Gate of the fort. Detour signs will aid travelers around the closure.

About

The Colonies RV Travel Park sits at the northern edge of Fort Monroe National Monument, a historic Army post on the Virginia Peninsula where the Chesapeake Bay meets Hampton Roads. The park offers 14 full-service RV sites with 30/50 amp electrical connections on paved pads, nine sites with 30 amp power and water, and tent camping available by reservation or walk-in. Amenities include a country store stocked with gifts, beach gear, and RV supplies. The clubhouse provides a full kitchen, TV room, and game room for guest use. The bath house has restrooms with flush toilets and free hot showers year-round, and a 24-hour laundry facility is available. The park rents fire pits, charcoal grills, bicycles, and recreational equipment including cornhole, pickleball, and volleyball. Pavilions can be reserved for gatherings. Fort Monroe offers unique access to historic sites, beaches, fishing piers, and walking trails. Quiet hours are 10 PM to 8 AM on weekdays and 11 PM to 8 AM on weekends.

Directions

From I-64 East or West take Exit 268 (169 East Mallory St/Ft. Monroe). At the top of the exit, turn left at the light onto S Mallory St (0.1 mile). Turn right onto Mercury Blvd (0.6 mile). At the second light take the left fork onto Ingalls Rd (0.75 mile). Turn left onto Stillwell Dr, continue to the stop sign (0.7 mile). Turn left onto Fenwick Rd; the park is on the left (0.8 mile).
