The Colonies Rv Travel Park & Country Store

Open — Open year-round. Reservations recommended for RV sites and can be made by phone at 757-722-2200 or online. Tent sites are first-come, first-served. Note: A section of Fenwick Road between Ingalls and the East Gate is temporarily closed; follow detour signs.

Road Closure and Fishing Pier Impact

The Engineer Wharf, one of two fishing piers at Fort Monroe is temporarily closed. The Finger Pier remains open. Also closed is the section of Fenwick Road between Ingalls and the East Gate of the fort. Detour signs will aid travelers around the closure.

Located within the historic Fort Monroe National Monument on the Chesapeake Bay, The Colonies RV Travel Park & Country Store provides campers with a unique combination of coastal recreation and American history. The campground features 14 full-service RV sites equipped with 30/50 amp electrical connections, water, sewer, and paved parking pads. An additional 9 sites offer partial hookups with electricity and water, while primitive tent camping is available on a first-come, first-served basis. The facility includes a clubhouse with television and full kitchen, a bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets, and a 24-hour laundry facility. The on-site country store stocks gifts, beach necessities, and RV supplies. Picnic tables are standard, and pavilions, fire pits, and charcoal grills are available for rent. Campers can explore the historic fortifications, walk or bike along coastal trails, and enjoy beach access just steps from their site. Fort Monroe's rich military history spans over 400 years, with attractions including the Casemate Museum and historic architecture throughout the grounds. The location provides easy access to nearby destinations including Colonial Williamsburg and Virginia Beach. Quiet hours are enforced from 10 PM to 8 AM on weekdays and 11 PM to 8 AM on weekends.

Directions

From I-64 East or West take Exit 268 (169 East Mallory St/Ft. Monroe). At top of exit turn left at light onto S Mallory St (0.1 mile). Turn right onto Mercury Blvd (0.6 mile). At 2nd light take left fork onto Ingalls Rd (0.75 mile). Turn left onto Stillwell Dr (150 feet), continue to stop sign (0.7 mile). Turn left onto Fenwick Rd. Colonies RV and Travel Park on left (0.8 mile).
