Machicomoco State Park Campground

Machicomoco State Park Campground is located in southern Gloucester County along the York River, approximately 10 miles downriver from the historic site of Werowocomoco. The park's theme honors Native American origins and traditions, creating a distinctive camping experience in Virginia's Tidewater region. The campground features a unique circular layout with a central bathhouse that includes private, unisex bath and shower rooms rather than communal facilities. The park offers 27 total campsites: 13 sites with water and electric hookups (20, 30, and 50-amp service) that can accommodate RVs up to 60 feet, and 14 walk-in tent-only sites arranged in three arcs on the western side of the campground, buffering the camp from the waters of Cedarbush Creek. Tent pads measure 20 by 20 feet. Three overnight yurts are also available, with Yurt 3 being ADA-accessible. Every campsite includes a fire ring with cooking grate, picnic table, and lantern holder. The bathhouse provides hot showers and flush restrooms. Firewood is available for purchase at the park. A dump station is on-site. The park also features a car-top boat launch pier with an accessible boat entry structure and small floating docks on Timberneck Creek for daytime tie-ups and fishing.
