Marine wind observations depict a surge of northerly winds to around 15 kt in the Chesapeake Bay and lower James River. Occasional gusts to 20 kt will be possible through the early afternoon. Locally higher waves to around 2 feet are also possible, especially in the lower Chesapeake Bay. Winds should diminish later this afternoon. Boaters, especially those in small craft, should exercise caution and consider remaining in port until winds diminish this afternoon.

Road Closure and Fishing Pier Impact

The Engineer Wharf, one of two fishing piers at Fort Monroe is temporarily closed. The Finger Pier remains open. Also closed is the section of Fenwick Road between Ingalls and the East Gate of the fort. Detour signs will aid travelers around the closure.
