About
First Landing State Park's yurts provide an excellent middle ground between tent camping and cabin lodging. The four yurts sit in the coastal dunes along the Chesapeake Bay, offering proximity to both beach access and the park's 19 miles of trails through cypress swamps and maritime forest. Each yurt sleeps three (queen bed plus twin trundle) with a maximum occupancy of four, and includes indoor furnishings like a sofa, chair, coffee table, and dining table for four. Outdoor amenities include a spacious wooden deck with four Adirondack chairs, two picnic tables, a pedestal grill, and a fire ring with cooking grate. Guests should bring their own linens or sleeping bags, as well as lanterns or flashlights since the yurts have no electricity. The campground bathhouse with hot showers and flush toilets is a short walk away. Two vehicles are permitted per yurt; additional vehicles pay the daily parking fee. The yurt season runs from the first Friday in March through the first Monday in December. Weekend stays require booking both Friday and Saturday nights, while one-night stays are allowed Sunday through Thursday. Reservations are made through Reserve Virginia Parks (reservevaparks.com) or by calling 1-800-933-PARK.
