About
Sundew Campground occupies a prime location on the western shore of Bucks Lake at 5,500 feet elevation in Plumas National Forest. Nestled within a fir and pine forest, the campground provides shade during summer days while cooling off at night. All 22 sites feature lake access or lake views, and many campers launch kayaks or swim directly from camp. The Bucks Lake area offers diverse recreation including motorized and non-motorized boating, waterskiing, windsurfing, and fishing. Hiking trails are nearby at Mill Creek Campground and Bucks Summit, where the Pacific Crest Trail and Bucks Creek Loop are accessible. The boat ramp at Sandy Point Day Use Area accommodates larger vessels. Bears frequent the area, so food must be stored in the provided bear boxes. The campground is managed by Pacific Gas & Electric Company and operates strictly first-come, first-served with a 14-day stay limit. Cell phone service is unreliable in the area.
Directions
From Quincy, take Bucks Lake Road west for approximately 17 miles. From Oroville, travel east via Highway 70 to Bucks Lake Road or via Oroville Dam Boulevard and Highway 162.
