About

Silver Lake Campground is a quiet, primitive campground tucked away at the end of Silver Lake Road in the Plumas National Forest. At just over 6,000 feet elevation, the campground offers large landscape views of trees and valleys along the scenic six-mile drive in. The 8 sites are spread out and isolated to provide optimal tranquility for tent campers seeking solitude. Each site includes a picnic table, fire ring, and food storage locker (bear box). Vault toilets are available at two locations within the campground. There is no potable water, so campers must bring their own supply. The campground is not recommended for RVs due to the narrow access road and site configurations. Hiking access is located along the eastern side of Silver Lake, with trails continuing to Bucks Summit on the Pacific Crest Trail or climbing Spanish Peak where an old fire lookout once stood. OHV routes depart from the campground area but were severely impacted by the 2021 Dixie Fire and contain hazard trees and debris.
