About

Summit Lake Campground is a small, quiet retreat located a short distance from Warm Lake in Idaho's Boise National Forest. The campground offers just 3 campsites nestled in a scenic pine forest that provides partial shade, with Lunch Creek running alongside and abundant summer wildflowers. Each campsite features a picnic table, fire ring, and grill. A vault toilet is provided, but potable water is not available so campers must bring their own supply. The campground is primitive with no hookups, showers, or dump station. Dogs are welcome but must be kept on a leash. The surrounding area near Warm Lake provides excellent recreational opportunities including fishing for cutthroat, rainbow, lake, and bull trout in Johnson Creek and Summit Lake. Billy Rice Swim Beach on Warm Lake is a short drive away for afternoon picnics and swimming. The area also offers hiking, mountain biking, horseback riding, and OHV trails as shown on the Cascade District Motor Vehicle Use Map.

Directions

From Boise, travel north 80 miles on Highway 55 to Cascade, then north briefly to Forest Highway 22. Proceed northeast approximately 25 miles, then continue east on Forest Road 579 about 8 miles to the campground.
