About

Historic Stolle Meadows Cabin is a single-room guard station that has been restored to near original condition, nestled in a mixed-growth lodgepole pine forest on a bluff overlooking Stolle Meadows at 5,300 feet elevation. The cabin accommodates up to five guests with one double bed and one twin bed with trundle underneath. Inside amenities include a table and chairs, dry sink, wood stove with firewood provided, propane cooking stove with fuel, pots and pans, dishes, tableware, solar lights, and a first aid kit. An axe and maul are provided for splitting firewood. Outside, there is an outhouse with vault toilet and a picnic table. Potable drinking water is available year-round from a hand pump. Guests must bring their own bedding, pillows, and garbage bags as this is a pack-it-in/pack-it-out facility. The solar lighting system may be dim during winter months due to reduced panel efficiency from snow and ice; bringing backup lighting is recommended. Warm Lake is less than 5 miles away, offering boating, canoeing, and fishing for rainbow, cutthroat, lake, and bull trout. Vulcan Hot Springs is about 1.5 miles from the cabin. The area features numerous hiking, biking, horse, and OHV trails. Wildlife including elk, deer, moose, and bear frequent the surrounding forest. Winter activities include snowshoeing, cross-country skiing, and sledding.

Directions

From Boise, take Highway 55 north 85 miles to Cascade. Turn east on Warm Lake Highway and go 25 miles to Stolle Meadows Road (427). Turn south and go 5 miles to the cabin, which will be on your left up a small hill.
