About

Sulak Campground is a rustic, free camping area within the Huron-Manistee National Forests, managed by the Baldwin/White Cloud Ranger District. The site is primarily used by anglers targeting trout and salmon on the Pere Marquette National Scenic River, as well as hunters and families seeking a quiet forest camping experience. A quarter-mile trail connects the campsites to river access operated by the Michigan DNR. The campground offers basic amenities typical of a primitive USFS site: vault toilets and designated camping spurs. There is no potable water on site, so campers must bring their own supply. No camping fees are charged. The area is open year-round, though maintenance is suspended from November 1 through April 30, meaning toilets may be closed and roads may not be plowed during winter months. A watercraft permit is required for floating the Pere Marquette River from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day weekend. Pere Marquette National Scenic River Corridor restrictions apply regarding camping, vessels, and sanitation within the river corridor.
