About

Bear Track Campground is a quiet, primitive campground nestled along the scenic Little Manistee River within Manistee National Forest. The campground earned its name from a bear track discovered during construction many years ago. Completely surrounded by National Forest System land, it offers a peaceful retreat for campers seeking solitude and natural beauty. The campground features vault toilets and potable water, with each site equipped with a fire pit with cooking grate and a picnic table. A 1.5-mile connector trail leads to the North Country National Scenic Trail, making it an ideal base for hikers and backpackers exploring the region. Fishing is a major draw here, with the Little Manistee River offering excellent opportunities for steelhead and trout. The site is also popular with river paddlers, and several commercial paddlesport outfitters operate in the nearby area. Canoe rentals are available in Manistee, Irons, and Wellston.
