Bowman Bridge Campground is situated along the Pere Marquette National Scenic River, a 66-mile stretch of clear, unspoiled water within Michigan's Huron-Manistee National Forests. The campground offers 24 total sites: 16 paved family campsites arranged in a single loop, 4 walk-in family campsites, and 4 tent-only group sites that can accommodate up to 20 people each. A tornado passed through in 2005, so tall trees and shade are less dense than at neighboring campgrounds. The primary draws here are canoeing, fishing, and hiking. Anglers target brown trout, salmon, steelhead, and rainbow trout in the river. Watercraft rentals are available at liveries in nearby Baldwin. A watercraft permit is required to float the river from Memorial Day weekend through Labor Day, with permitted hours from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. Hikers can access the North Country National Scenic Trail via a connector trail from the campground. The campground provides vault toilets and potable water. Sites are nonelectric with no hookups available. Check-in is at 2:00 PM and check-out at 11:00 AM. Senior and Access pass holders receive a 50% discount on single sites.

Directions

From Baldwin, turn west on 7th Street, then left onto Cherry Street. Take the first right onto W 52nd Street and drive 5 miles. Look for signs into the campground.
