About

Highbank Lake Campground offers a peaceful retreat on a 20-acre lake entirely encircled by Manistee National Forest land in Newaygo County, Michigan. The campground serves as a base for fishing the stocked lake and exploring the surrounding forest trails. A sandy beach with a shallow, gradual bottom provides excellent swimming conditions for families. The campground features vault toilets and potable water from faucets. Sites include fire rings and picnic tables typical of developed USFS campgrounds. The location provides access to the North Country National Scenic Trail system and other hiking opportunities in the area. Non-motorized boating is permitted on the lake. The campground operates seasonally from mid-May through early September. All sites are first-come, first-served with no advance reservations available. The setting offers a quiet escape surrounded by forest with opportunities for fishing, swimming, hiking, and wildlife observation.
