About
Starr Springs Campground sits at 6,300 feet on the southeast slope of Mount Hillers, offering a secluded basecamp in Utah's Henry Mountains. The campground provides 12 individual sites and one large group site, each equipped with picnic tables, fire rings, and grills. Pit toilets and potable water are available on-site, along with a nature trail for exploring the surrounding terrain. The Henry Mountains are among the most isolated ranges in the Lower 48, with Mount Hillers towering at 10,723 feet above the campground. The area draws geology enthusiasts and rock hounds eager to explore the igneous intrusions and mineralized formations, while late-season hunters come for the free-roaming bison herd that inhabits these highlands. Access is via a dirt road 7 miles west of State Route 276 at milepost 17.
Directions
From State Route 276 at milepost 17, travel 7 miles west on a dirt road to the campground. From Hanksville, drive 25 miles south on Highway 95, then 17 miles southwest on Highway 276 to milepost 17.
