Stanton Creek Primitive Camping Area is a designated dispersed camping zone within Glen Canyon National Recreation Area, located just north of Bullfrog Marina along Highway 276. This expansive primitive area consists of open terrain with dirt and brush, with some portions adjacent to Lake Powell's shoreline. Unlike traditional campgrounds, there are no designated campsites; visitors simply choose their spot within the allowed area. The area is accessible by vehicle, though road conditions can vary and some portions may require 4-wheel drive. There are no facilities or services at Stanton Creek: no potable water, no toilets, and no hookups. When pit toilets are unavailable, campers must bring portable toilets and properly dispose of waste in a sewer system. No glass containers are permitted, and fires must be contained to a four-foot by four-foot area and can only be lit below the high water mark. Camping operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no reservations. The fee is $12 per night, payable at the Bullfrog Entrance Station by card or at the iron post at the beach entrance with cash. Quiet hours are observed from 10 PM to 6 AM. Summer temperatures can reach 110°F with little shade, while winter nights often drop below freezing. Spring brings variable weather and strong winds, while fall offers mild conditions ideal for camping.
