About
McMillan Spring Campground is situated at 8,400 feet elevation in a Ponderosa pine forest on a large flat with expansive views of the Henry Mountains area. This nine-site campground is particularly well-suited for equestrian camping, featuring corrals, livestock water, and troughs that are easily accessible from several campsites. The campground is popular year-round but sees especially heavy use during fall big game hunting season. Each campsite offers a parking area, picnic table, fire ring, grill, and bench. Potable water is available seasonally, typically from May through September. The campground features restroom facilities and operates on a first-come, first-served basis with no advance reservations. The fee structure is unique: there is no set minimum, and campers pay what they feel their experience is worth, with payment made on-site. Located in a remote area of Garfield County managed by the Bureau of Land Management, McMillan Spring provides access to the scenic backcountry of the Henry Mountains region. The campground can be reached from Highway 12 via Notom Road, traveling 15 miles south to Sandy Ranch Junction, then 15 miles east to the campground.
Directions
