About

Stagecoach Horse Camp sits in the heart of Tillamook State Forest, providing equestrians with a well-equipped base for exploring the Coast Range. The campground features 10 reservable sites, most with sturdy two-horse log corrals. Sites 2-5 require campers to bring at least one saddle or pack animal, while sites 1, 7-10 welcome both horse and non-horse campers. Each site accommodates up to 8 people, 2 tents, and 2 vehicles. Facilities include vault toilets, fire grates, picnic tables, a covered picnic shelter, and manure disposal bins. A small creek-fed stock watering area provides water for horses, though no potable water is available for human use. Campers should bring their own drinking water. The campground offers direct access to the non-motorized Historic Hiking Loop, an 8.6-mile trail system connecting the Side Step Trail, Gravelle Brothers Trail, Nels Rogers Trail, and Wilson River Wagon Road Trail. Highlights include University Falls, a 65-foot waterfall. The area sees regular logging truck traffic, so riders should stay alert on forest roads.

Directions

From Forest Grove, head west on Highway 8 to Gales Creek Road. Turn north and continue to Beaver Dam Road. Follow Beaver Dam Road west, then turn onto University Falls Road to reach the campground. Total distance is approximately 23 miles from Forest Grove.
