About

Reehers Camp Horse Camp occupies a historic site on the eastern edge of Tillamook State Forest where hundreds of Civilian Conservation Corps workers lived from 1934 to 1941 while working on the Tillamook Burn recovery. Located just 3 miles outside the small community of Timber, the campground is operated by the Oregon Department of Forestry. The campground offers 17 reservable sites across two loops. Loop A contains 10 horse sites including 6 equestrian-required sites where campers must bring at least one pack or saddle animal, and 3 horse-optional sites. Loop B has 7 tent-only sites. Facilities include vault toilets, hand-pump potable water, fire grates, picnic tables, corrals, manure bins, trash service, and a day-use area with picnic shelters. Note that pets are prohibited on horse sites but allowed on leash at tent sites in Loop B. The adjacent trailhead provides access to Gales Creek Trail, a 12-mile route over Round Top Mountain to the Step Creek Trailhead off Highway 6. Step Creek Trail and Triple C Trail are also accessible for hiking, biking, and horseback riding.
