About

Nehalem Falls Campground is located in the Tillamook State Forest approximately 10 miles east of Wheeler along the Nehalem State Scenic Waterway. This Oregon Department of Forestry campground offers 14 first-come, first-served drive-in campsites and 6 walk-in tent sites, plus one reservable group site that accommodates up to 24 people. All sites include picnic tables and fire grates. The campground features potable water from a hand pump well, two vault toilets, and trash service. A camp host is present during the operating season. Visitors can enjoy a three-quarter mile hiking trail that circumnavigates the campground, passing through stands of old-growth Sitka spruce and western hemlock with views of the Nehalem River corridor and Nehalem Falls, a low basalt ledge waterfall. The campground sits in a forested setting near the Nehalem River, offering opportunities for fishing and riverside relaxation. The falls and fish ladder are popular attractions, though during high water, the low falls can be obscured. Access is via Foss Road at milepost 7, approximately 13 miles east of the coastal town of Manzanita.
