About

Stag Point OHV Trailhead and Camp provides a rugged staging area for off-highway vehicle enthusiasts in the remote backcountry of Plumas National Forest. Located in the Tammarack Flat area, the site offers six dispersed camping units on a first-come-first-served basis with no fees. The trailhead site includes a fire pit and picnic table, while a pit toilet serves the area. This is true backcountry camping with no potable water and pack-it-in/pack-it-out trash requirements. Access requires a capable four-wheel-drive vehicle, and conditions can be challenging with trees potentially blocking roads and rocks requiring stacking for passage. No trailers are permitted beyond the trailhead. Snow can close access at any time during winter and spring, making this a seasonal destination dependent on weather conditions. A campfire permit is required before building any fires, and campers should check current fire restrictions before visiting. The area connects to OHV trails and offers stream fishing opportunities. Pets are welcome but must remain on leash and attended at all times.
