About

Located on the western shore of Little Grass Valley Reservoir in Plumas National Forest, Black Rock Campground provides a scenic lakeside camping experience at approximately 5,000 feet elevation. The campground offers 10 walk-in tent sites available on a first-come, first-served basis, with each site featuring a picnic table and fire ring. A large parking area accommodates RV campers who wish to use the day-use facilities or park while accessing the walk-in tent sites. The campground includes vault toilets and potable water (tested regularly, though water may not be available early and late season when the system is winterized). A boat launch provides direct access to Little Grass Valley Reservoir for fishing and water sports, and an accessible fishing trail accommodates visitors with mobility needs. The Lakeshore Trail offers opportunities for hiking and mountain biking along the reservoir. Black Rock Campground operates seasonally, typically opening in late spring or early summer and remaining open until snow closes access, usually in late fall or early winter. The campground enforces a 14-day stay limit and allows up to 6 people and 2 vehicles per site. Pets are permitted on leash. OHV use is prohibited within the campground, and campers should practice bear-aware protocols in this mountain environment.
