About

Southwick Beach State Park spans 500 acres along Lake Ontario's eastern shore in Jefferson County, offering one of the region's finest sandy beaches and a well-maintained campground. The park is known for its spacious layout and outstanding swimming opportunities on its long, natural sand beach, which is staffed with lifeguards during the summer season. The campground provides modern facilities including hot showers, electric hookup sites, and a variety of camping options from beachfront sites to wooded locations. During peak season (late June through August), the coveted Beach Loop sites (2-30) operate on a Saturday-to-Saturday basis with 7 or 14-night stays. Beyond camping, visitors enjoy picnicking at three rental pavilions, playing fields, and a playground for families. Southwick Beach adjoins the Lakeview Wildlife Management Area, which protects environmentally-sensitive coastal sand dunes and offers additional trails for hiking, cross-country skiing, and snowshoeing. The park permits deer hunting south of the entrance during designated seasons by permit only. Winter visitors can enjoy snowmobiling and cross-country skiing on park trails. The facility is managed by New York State Parks and operated seasonally with full services from May through Columbus Day weekend.
