About

Selkirk Shores State Park sits along the eastern shore of Lake Ontario in Oswego County, New York, offering a premier camping destination with stunning lake views and diverse recreational opportunities. The park features 129 campsites distributed across four loops (Acorn, Bird, Chipmunk, and Dragonfly) and 23 rental cabins, all positioned on a scenic bluff overlooking Lake Ontario. The location provides unparalleled access to some of the finest fishing on Lake Ontario, particularly for salmon and trout, with both small boat launches at Pine Grove and larger boat access at nearby Mexico Point on the Little Salmon River. The park's position along a direct migration route makes it a magnet for birdwatchers, who can observe a wide variety of waterfowl, shorebirds, and migratory species throughout the year. Summer visitors enjoy the park's swimming beach with lifeguard supervision, extensive hiking and biking trail systems, and family-friendly amenities including picnic pavilions and playgrounds. Winter transforms the landscape for cross-country skiing, snowshoeing, and snowmobiling adventures. A comprehensive $9 million renovation project was completed during the 2025 season, modernizing facilities and improving campground infrastructure. The campground reopened for the 2026 season with enhanced amenities and updated facilities. Campsites accommodate tents and RVs up to 40 feet with back-in driveways, though hookups are limited to electric only. Fresh water fill stations and a dump station serve RV campers.
