About

South Sandusky Campground sits on the western shore of Rend Lake in the heart of Southern Illinois, offering 124 reservable campsites near Sandusky cove. The campground features multiple loops (Dogwood, Redbud, Pine Tree, Pine Oak, and Sycamore) with electric hookup sites, plus 8 walk-to tent sites without hookups. Each site is equipped with a picnic table and firepit. Modern amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, a dump station, and drinking water. Three playgrounds are strategically located within the Redbud, Pine Tree, and Sycamore loops. Rend Lake encompasses 20,633 acres of water and 19,523 acres of land, providing exceptional opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The campground offers direct access to over 20 miles of paved bike trails that wind through scenic woodlands with views of Rend Lake and the Big Muddy River. The surrounding forests of hickory, oak, and maple provide habitat for white-tailed deer, wild turkey, and waterfowl. South Sandusky Beach is located adjacent to the campground, and the area features additional recreation options including Rend Lake Marina, a dog park with swimming area, archery complex, and the Blackberry Nature Trail.
