High temperatures reaching the lower 90s this afternoon will combine with high humidity values to produce heat index readings peaking in the 100 to 105 range. This will be the 3rd consecutive day with heat index readings exceeding 100 degrees in many locations. With this being the first heat wave of the season be particularly alert to heat related illness potential and take the necessary action to protect yourself.

About
Dale Miller Youth sits along the southeastern shore of Rend Lake, a 20,633-acre reservoir in the heart of southern Illinois. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, this group campground is specifically designed for youth organizations and large gatherings, accommodating up to 200 guests with a maximum of 50 vehicles. The facility features five cabins with open floor plans containing four bunk beds each (one wheelchair-accessible bed per cabin). Guests must bring their own sleeping equipment such as air mattresses or cots. Nine RV/trailer sites offer full hookups with 50-amp electric pedestals. The campground includes mini shower restrooms and a large enclosed picnic shelter equipped with electricity, tables, a fireplace, and grill. Recreational amenities include a private sandy beach exclusive to campers, boat mooring, a group fire ring, obstacle course, playground, baseball/softball field, and combination tennis/basketball court. Reservations are handled through Recreation.gov up to 365 days in advance.
Directions
From I-57, take exit 71 and turn west onto Route 14. After 3 miles, turn right on Rend City Road, then right again on Main Dam Road. Continue 3 miles to the camp entrance on the left.
