About

North Sandusky Campground occupies a wooded peninsula around Sandusky Cove on Rend Lake, one of Southern Illinois's largest reservoirs at over 20,000 acres. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground provides 95 sites spread across several loops including Pintail, Ringneck, Woodduck, Shagbark, Maple, Sweetgum, Hickory, and White Oak. Sites vary between electric-only (74 sites) and electric/water hookups (23 sites), with long-term camping available in the Maple and Sweet Gum loops. The campground features flush toilets, hot showers, potable water, and a dump station. Each site has a picnic table and fire ring. Playgrounds are located at the campground entrance and White Oak loop. The adjacent North Sandusky Day Use Area provides a boat ramp, two reservable picnic shelters, and a disc golf course. Recreational opportunities extend well beyond the campground. The Rend Lake Bike Trail offers over 20 miles of paved pathways through woodlands with lake views. North Marcum Beach, a pet-friendly swimming beach, is nearby. The area also features an archery complex with a 3D trail and elevated shooting platform, plus a dog park with a swimming feature.
