About

Spillway Group Area sits along the banks of Rend Lake in Franklin County, Illinois, offering one of the best views at this 18,900-acre reservoir. The 10-acre day-use facility is situated on the northeast side of the spillway and provides an ideal setting for company picnics, weddings, church gatherings, family reunions, and other outdoor group events. The area features a large shelter with 250-person capacity, electricity, and overhead lighting, as well as an amphitheater that also accommodates 250 guests. A smaller gazebo seats approximately 30 people. Amenities include flush toilets, drinking water, picnic tables, a playground with swings, and direct access to the Rend Lake Bike Trail. This is strictly a day-use facility; overnight camping is prohibited. Groups requiring additional tables, chairs, or equipment beyond what is provided must bring their own. Large events, canopy tents, or special equipment may require a special use permit obtained through the Rend Lake Project Office.
