About

Spillway Group Area offers 10 acres for company picnics, weddings, church gatherings, family reunions, and other outdoor events along the scenic shores of Rend Lake in Southern Illinois. The facility includes a large shelter with electricity and overhead lighting that accommodates 250 people, an amphitheater with 250-person capacity, and a small gazebo for groups of up to 30. Amenities include picnic tables, flush toilets, drinking water, a playground, and direct access to over 20 miles of the paved Rend Lake Bike Trail. The surrounding area provides excellent opportunities for wildlife viewing, with woodlands of hickory, oak, and maple trees sheltering white-tail deer, turkeys, and raccoons. The shorelines offer prime viewing for waterfowl and shorebirds. Nearby recreation includes boating, fishing, hiking, an archery complex, and public swimming beaches. This is a day-use only facility operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers.

Directions

From I-57 take exit 71 and turn west onto Highway 14. After 3 miles turn right on Rend City Road, then right on Rend Lake Dam Road. Continue 3 miles to the park entrance on the left.
