This is a day-use facility only. Camping is prohibited at this location. The picnic shelter (Site 009) is available for reservation and accommodates up to 25 guests. Daily fees apply for boat ramp use.
About
South Marcum Day Use Area sits along the banks of Rend Lake in Franklin County, Illinois. This is a day-use facility featuring a reservable group picnic shelter that accommodates up to 25 guests, equipped with tables, grills, and drinking water. A playground and boat ramp with courtesy dock are within easy walking distance. Rend Lake encompasses over 18,900 acres of water and 20,000 acres of land, providing abundant opportunities for boating, fishing, swimming, and wildlife viewing. The area is home to white-tailed deer, wild turkey, fox, raccoon, and various waterfowl. The Rend Lake Bike Trail offers over 20 miles of paved pathways through scenic woodlands with views of the lake and Big Muddy River. This is strictly a day-use area. Overnight camping is prohibited at this location. For overnight stays, the adjacent South Marcum Campground offers campsites.
Directions
From I-57 take exit 71 and turn west onto Route 14. Continue for 3 miles, then turn north on Rend City Road, turn right on Rend Lake Dam Rd. The entrance is on the left after about 3 miles, just past the main dam.
