Deer Creek State Park

Open

All three campgrounds are open for the 2026 season. Reservations are required May 1 through October 15, available on a four-month rolling basis. Chokecherry and Great Horned Owl campgrounds close October 31 and reopen April 15; Fox Den operates year-round.

About

Deer Creek State Park occupies a scenic stretch of shoreline on Deer Creek Reservoir, roughly 10 miles southwest of Heber City in Utah's Wasatch Mountains. The 3,000-acre reservoir draws boaters, anglers, and paddlers throughout the warm season, while the surrounding peaks provide a dramatic backdrop for camping. The park operates three distinct campgrounds. Fox Den Campground offers 50-amp full hookups with water and sewer at every site, along with centrally located flush restrooms and showers. Sites range from 53 to 75 feet in length. Chokecherry Campground is the largest, featuring six tent-only sites plus full-hookup RV sites with 30- or 50-amp service; it has two newly renovated restroom buildings with showers. Great Horned Owl Campground provides dry camping without hookups, best suited for tents, truck campers, and small trailers, with access to a dump station near the park entrance. All campsites include covered picnic areas with tables, charcoal grills, and fire rings. Reservations are required from May 1 through October 15 and open on a rolling four-month basis through Utah State Parks. Chokecherry and Great Horned Owl close from October 31 through April 15, while Fox Den remains open year-round at reduced winter rates.
