Deer Creek State Park

Open — Open year-round. Campgrounds operate with reservations required May 1 through October 15. Outside this period, campgrounds are closed for winter. Park gates open 6:00 a.m. to 10:00 p.m. daily.

About

Deer Creek State Park sits on the shores of the nearly 3,000-acre Deer Creek Reservoir in the southwest corner of Heber Valley, offering spectacular views of Mount Timpanogos. The park features multiple campground options totaling approximately 75 campsites, including RV sites with full hookups and tent camping areas. The developed campgrounds include Chokecherry Campground with full 50 amp hookups, water, and sewer, and additional campgrounds with 30-50 amp service and various amenity levels. The park is a water recreation destination with activities including boating, water skiing, sailing, windsurfing, swimming, and fishing. Two boat ramps provide reservoir access, and the park features additional attractions like zipline tours across Rainbow Bay and a floating aqua park during the summer season. The lower Provo River below the dam offers excellent opportunities for floating, kayaking, and fly fishing. Located within 30 minutes from Provo and an hour from Salt Lake City, the park is easily accessible from the Wasatch Front. Day-use areas provide beach access, though the Sailboat Beach area is closed through June 2026 for construction related to the Deer Creek Dam Intake Project.

Deer Creek State Park is located near Wallsburg, Utah. From Salt Lake City, take I-80 East to US-40 East toward Heber City, then follow US-189 South to the park entrance.
