About
Somerfield North Recreation Area is a day-use facility on Youghiogheny River Lake, operated by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers Pittsburgh District. Located on Route 40 in Addison Township, directly across from Yough Lake Marina, the site provides lakefront access for swimming, boating, kayaking, and paddle boarding. The facility features a reservable non-electric group shelter that can accommodate up to 100 people and 50 vehicles. The pavilion includes picnic tables and grills, with restrooms nearby. A boat launch ramp and courtesy dock provide water access. Yough Lake Marina across the road offers paddle board, kayak, and pontoon boat rentals. This is not an overnight campground. The group shelter operates on day-use hours with check-in at 7:00 AM and checkout at 10:00 PM. Alcohol is prohibited on site. The shelter is not ADA accessible. For overnight camping at Youghiogheny River Lake, visitors should consider Outflow Camping or Mill Run Recreation Area.
