Gusts as high as around 75 mph are possible right along and immediately in the lee of the Allegheny Front this evening. * WHERE...Mainly along and east of the Allegheny Front in western Maryland, western Virginia, and eastern West Virginia. * WHEN...Until 4 PM EST Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Damage to outbuildings is likely. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high profile vehicles.

Total snow accumulations of 2 to 5 inches with localized amounts around 6 inches possible along the western facing slopes above 3,000 feet or in any persistent bands of steadier snow. West winds will gust around 55 to 65 mph. For the Winter Storm Watch, heavy snow possible. Total snow accumulations 6 inches or more are possible. Winds could gust as high as 50 mph. * WHERE...In Maryland, Eastern Garrett and Western Garrett Counties. In West Virginia, Western Grant and Western Pendleton Counties. * WHEN...For the Winter Weather Advisory, until 10 AM EST Tuesday. For the Winter Storm Watch, from Wednesday afternoon through Thursday morning. * IMPACTS...For the Winter Weather Advisory, plan on snow covered and slippery road conditions along with significant reduction in visibility. New Germany State Park, located in Garrett County, Maryland, spans 508 acres adjacent to the Savage River State Forest. The park features a 13-acre lake suitable for fishing, swimming, and non-motorized boating. Visitors can explore 10 miles of multi-use trails through diverse forests, accommodating activities such as hiking, biking, and cross-country skiing. The park offers 48 campsites, with one site providing electric hookups. Amenities include a central bathhouse with restrooms and hot showers, potable water stations, and a dump station for RVs. Twelve fully-furnished cabins are available year-round, each equipped with a kitchen, bathroom, and sleeping accommodations. Directions

From Grantsville, MD, head east on US-40 E/Main St/National Pike for 2 miles. Turn right onto New Germany Road and continue for 5 miles. Turn left to stay on New Germany Road, then drive straight onto McAndrews Hill Road to reach the park entrance.
