New Garmany State Park Campground

Nestled in the Appalachian highlands of Garrett County at approximately 2,500 feet elevation, New Germany State Park campground offers a secluded mountain camping experience. The park spans forestland between Big Savage Mountain (2,900 ft.) to the east and Meadow Mountain along the Continental Divide to the west. Two camping loops serve different needs: the year-round White Oak Loop features sites #1-20 and #34-39 with a heated bathhouse, while the seasonal Pines Loop operates April 1 through October 31. Campsite #34 provides electric hookups, and select sites offer water and sewer connections. The campground includes an RV dump station, hot showers, and pull-through sites accommodating rigs up to 54 feet. Glamping tents on platforms with queen beds are available at sites #3 and #31, and site #40 features a three-sided Alpine Lodge shelter. The White Oak Loop permits pets on all sites. Beyond camping, the park offers ten miles of multi-use trails, a nature center with native plant garden, and lake recreation including swimming, fishing, and boat rentals. Winter camping is available but driveways and sites are not plowed. Note that cell phone service is unavailable throughout the park.
