About
Outflow Camping sits on Youghiogheny River Lake in the heart of Pennsylvania's Laurel Highlands, where clean waters and forested mountains create an ideal setting for recreation. Managed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, the campground offers 63 campsites including RV sites with electric hookups, tent-only sites, walk-to group sites, and hiker-biker sites with hammock stations. The lake spans the Mason-Dixon Line between Pennsylvania and Maryland, offering 16 miles of waterway considered among the best for powerboating and water skiing in southwestern Pennsylvania. The campground's outflow area is particularly renowned for trout fishing, with regular stocking from April through September. A fishing pier located in the campground provides easy access. Full amenities include flush toilets, hot showers, drinking water, a dump station, amphitheater, and children's playground. The surrounding landscape features narrow valleys and rounded hills covered in northern hardwoods like beech, sugar maple, and yellow poplar, with wildlife including deer, bear, turkey, and grouse. The location offers proximity to world-class outdoor recreation. Ohiopyle State Park's renowned whitewater is nearby, the Great Allegheny Passage bike trail runs just feet from the campground, and the surrounding Laurel Highlands region offers extensive hiking and mountain biking opportunities. All sites are reservable through Recreation.gov, with a 14-day maximum stay per 30-day period. Note that alcohol is prohibited and a warning siren from the hydropower plant may be heard in the campground.
