About

Soldier Creek Campground occupies a scenic location on the shore of Strawberry Reservoir in the Uinta-Wasatch-Cache National Forest at an elevation of 7,200 feet. The large facility offers over 150 single and double-family campsites plus a group shelter that accommodates up to 100 people. Camping spurs are spaced 50-75 feet apart across four loops connected by paved roads. Loop A provides the best shade from mature pines and aspens with some covered picnic tables, while loops B, C, and D sit nearest the reservoir with less natural shade but covered tables and privacy screens to block wind. Strawberry Reservoir is renowned for its excellent fishing opportunities, attracting anglers pursuing rainbow trout, cutthroat trout, and Kokanee salmon. The reservoir also supports boating, water skiing, canoeing, and kayaking. Soldier Creek Day Use Area sits within a quarter mile and offers beach access. The campground is adjacent to a full-service marina providing boat rentals, slip rentals, fuel, a fish cleaning station, groceries, and camping supplies. A boat ramp and dump station are located on-site. Beyond water activities, the area offers 75 miles of OHV trails popular with off-highway vehicle riders, mountain bikers, and hikers. The Strawberry Visitor Center features interpretive displays, a working fish trap and egg collection station, and a nature trail. The campground sits among rolling sagebrush-covered hills with panoramic views of the reservoir and surrounding valley. Reservations are managed through Recreation.gov with a 2-night minimum on weekends and 3-night minimum on holiday weekends.

Directions

From Heber City, take Highway 40 east for 32 miles to Soldier Creek Junction. Turn right and follow south for 2 miles to the campground.
